Letter from the Society President

Dear Fellow RAGIS Members,
Greetings. It’s been a year since I assumed the position as President of the Robert
A. Good Immunology Society, and there have been many Society activities . In October
2009, Dr. Tom Fleisher introduced Dr. Luigi Notarangelo, the RAGIS keynote speaker at
the Latin America Society of Immune Deficiency in Cartagena, Colombia. At the recent
First North American Clinical Immunology Society Meeting for Primary Immune
Deficiency in Philadelphia, I introduced Dr. Alain Fischer of Paris, France as the Robert
A. Good Memorial Lecturer. In June 2010, Dr. Noorbibi Day-Good introduced and
presented an award to Dr. Jean-Laurent Casanova, the Robert A. Good Memorial,
University of South Florida Lecturer at the FOCIS meeting in Boston. These speakers
represent physician-scientists who follow the model set by Dr. Good as an outstanding
scientist, educator and clinician. Additionally, Dr Noorbibi Day-Good was honored on
May 26, 2010 at the All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida during a dedication
of a Modell Center of Excellence for Immunodeficiency Disorders, with the research
laboratory linked to the center being named in honor of Dr. Day-Good.

At our recent business meeting at the First North American Clinical Immunology
Society meeting for Primary Immune Deficiency in Philadelphia, we discussed many
future programs for RAGIS. Additional details about these activities will be sent in
future e-mails and posted on our RAGIS web site (www.robertagoodarchives.com)
for additional details about these activities.

RAGIS has 2 committees essential for maintaining a healthy society that need the
involvement of the membership - the Nominating Committee (Chair, Dr. Maite de la
Morena), and the Education Committee (Chair, Dr. Mark Ballow). Please contact the
committee chairs or the Society Secretary (Dr. Mia Sordillo) if you are willing to serve on
these committees. Please let us know of other ideas to strengthen our Society.

Sincerely,
Mark Ballow
President, RAGIS
